How to play

Baseball is a game played with two teams of nine players. There are three bases and home plate lined up in a diamond. The batter stands at home plate as the pitcher throws the ball to him from the pitchers mound. The batters job is to hit the ball as far as he can and then run to first base. The fielders try to get the runner out. There are many ways for the fielders to get the runner out. The runner is allowed to take more than one base at a time but there is a higher chance the fielders will get him out. It is a run if the hitter can move all around the bases before the fielders can get three outs. Baseball games are nine innings but it can go way longer if the game is still tied after nine innings. The longest baseball game ever recorded was a AAA between the Pawtucket Red Sox and the Rochester Red Wings that lasted 33 innings and eight hours and twenty-five minutes of playing time. The longest MLB game of all time was a 26 inning game between the Boston Braves and Brooklyn dodgers in 1920. That game was called a draw because of darkness. That game took eight hours and twenty-two minutes.

Why you could be passionate about it

There are many reasons for you to be passionate about baseball. One is that it keeps your muscles active and healthy. It strengthens most of your muscles in your legs, arms, and core. An article by Robin Reichert called "What Are the Health Benefits of Baseball" stated "Baseball works many different muscle groups, especially the arms, thighs and lower legs. This sport also develops hand-eye coordination, quick thinking and reaction skills." It is also a great way to make friends.

How it evolved

Baseball Evolved from A game called Rounders. There is a myth that Abner Doubleday invented baseball during the Civil War. Baseball started to get bigger in the mid-late 1800s. The first MLB team was the Cincinnati Red Stockings in 1969 But the first professional Team was the New York Knickerbockers founded in 1845 by Alexander Cartwright. Major League Baseball has two leagues. The National came first which was founded in 1876. Then the American League Followed in 1901. Back when they just started playing, the gear was not nearly as advanced as today. For example, They didn't have gloves for a while, and the first catchers mask wasn't created until 1877.
